Celebrating 20 Years in the creative industries

Creative Directions
Creative Directions started with two employees (founders, Claudia and Laura-Beth) in a small cottage in Parkwood, Johannesburg in 2002. Soon, we found ourselves in need of more hands, so we employed the wonderful Daniel Basch who later – in partnership with Laura-Beth - started (and still owns and runs) Delta Café. Within a year of opening our doors, we were employed to create magnificent events for large corporates in the FMCG, heavy earth moving equipment, cement and banking sectors. We moved to larger premises and employed a few more people. We soon reached a point where we had to decide whether to employ even more people or to keep the company lean and mean. We decided on the latter, a wise move considering the recession of 2008 would soon be upon us. So, how did we manage to offer our large clients what they needed while remaining true to our commitment of staying small? By finding and remaining loyal to the best suppliers in the industry. To this day, we use only the very best technical, décor, video, design, branding and entertainment suppliers.
In 2022 we started the process of replicating our successful South African model in Europe. With feet on the ground in the Netherlands (which allows us easy access to the rest of Europe), we are assisting South African businesses with their exhibitions at European trade shows, as well as incentive trips to and conferences in Europe. European clients have already started making use of our extensive service offering.

What makes us different
- We’re small (so you don’t have to pay for huge overheads) but we think big.
- We’re experienced (so you won’t have learning-on-the-job mistakes) but we're not jaded.
- We’re focussed (so we won’t neglect you) but we're open minded.
- We’re honest (so you know what you’re getting and what you’re paying for it) no buts.
- We’re passionate (so we care just as much as you do – sometimes
more) but we remain centered.

Our Track Record
We have delivered work for clients in more than ten industries in a number of countries, both in and outside Africa – from technology to agriculture; from government to corporate; from FMCG to CSI. Whether we are working with an insurance product or a motor product, a mining house or a beauty house, our clients always get more than what they expect.
This has allowed us to build remarkable long-term relationships, some spanning our entire work history of twenty years. This consistency and loyalty from clients is all the proof we need that we are among the very best in our industry, with the expertise and experience to fulfil any and every brief with superb production value and outstanding creative concepts.

Transformation
We encourage our clients to create sustainable, green projects by reducing printing, doing away with plastic-bottled water, using local suppliers, offsetting their carbon footprint, and putting in place waste management plans at their events. We facilitate the green-auditing of events and provide not only peace-of-mind, but board-approved certification.
We continue to prioritise the employment and development of women.
In South Africa, we are Level 2 BBBEE compliant and we create opportunities by ensuring that we employ underexposed artists, previously disadvantaged individuals, and local communities to work on our projects whenever and wherever possible. This practice creates opportunities for emerging suppliers to receive exposure to corporate markets and potential clients, earn a higher-than-usual living for the period of the project, and establish long-term prospects via our clients and suppliers. Whether it is a beadwork artist, a human statue, a graffiti artist, a fine artist or a community project that gets kids off the street and onto stage, we do our best to offer life-changing opportunities.
